A Warm November Day

Holy moly we had some nice weather today. Henry and I took advantage of it and spent all afternoon outside. We played in the yard a bit then headed to the park and played at the playground and in the forest. And I got the sweetest pictures of my sweet little boy.

Nature Walk

Henry and I went on a nature walk this morning in Hillside Park, just a 5 minute walk from our house.
We explored the forest.

We explored the creek.
At first Henry only wanted to throw rocks into the water.
But then I put my feet in and he thought he might like to too. He liked to walk in and out of the water but only right at the edge while holding my hand.
And then he got more adventurous and wanted to walk down the creek right in the middle. Luckily he was happy enough to hold my hand while we walked along the creek a bit.
And on our way home we saw the most exciting things - cars!

The Warm Weather

We have been having unseasonably warm weather here the past few days. Yesterday it got up to 10 degrees C! And Henry and I went on 3 walks! It felt good to just leave the house in a mess and take off while the weather was good, like we were living life to the fullest, seizing the day. It looks like today is going to be nice again so I`m sure we will be going on some more walks.

After one of the walks I thought Henry might enjoy walking outside. Of course he wasn`t interested in walking at all because the ground was so interesting he just had to touch it. So he sat and touched the driveway and the ice and snow a bit. Didn`t like the cold of the ice but thought the driveway was qutie interesting. And then he crawled around the driveway. You could see him doing it quite carefully because I`m sure it didn`t feel very nice on his knees. And then we went inside and he changed into some nice dry clothes.

Nice Fall Weather

We have been having very very nice weather since Sunday. Henry and I have been doing our best at getting out for lots of walks while it is still nice. Today we were out in the backyard doing some gardening in the morning and in the afternoon we went on a long walk through Waterloo Park and had a look at the animals while we were there. Henry is giving animals lots of smiles these days.

Out in the backyard reminding me that he doesn't have to stay on the blanket anymore:

Thanksgiving and Oktoberfest

We had a very nice Thanksgiving weekend. Henry got to wear the lederhosen I made for him at our Oktoberfest Party on Saturday. We also enjoyed our homemade pretzels, beer nuts, saurkraut, and beer.

And we spent Sunday and Monday in Mississauga. Had a delicious turkey dinner on Sunday and went on lots of nice walks enjoying the fall colours. We went to 16 mile Creek in Oakville on Sunday and on Monday went to Forks of the Credit with a stop at the Cheltenham Badlands first to show Eliza ans Steve how cool they are.

RIM Park

The weather was beautiful yesterday. Warm and Sunny. Henry and I went a walk in Hillside Park and Henry smiled at the ducks. Then he played in the backyard, ate a lot of dirt, while I did some knitting while wearing just a T-shirt. And after dinner I wanted to continue making the most of the nice weather so we went for a walk at RIM Park. But by then it was quite a bit less warm. And there were almost no fall colours there.

But the awesome part of going in the evening is we saw white tailed deer which we've never seen before. And I had no idea that white tailed deer were so different than other deer. Their white tails are huge! You couldn't see the tails much when they were just standing there but when they were leaping away they had these 1 foot long bushy white tails sticking straight up. It was really cool.

Cheltenham Badlands

We visited the Cheltenham Badlands on Monday. A small area just North of Brampton. They were really cool to see. They were caused by erosion after over grazing by cattle. The hiking trail was closed and they weren't very big but worth the drive anyway, they were very cool.

Perfect Last day of April

It was a really nice warm day so Henry and I did lots of walking. In the afternoon we went to Breithaupt Park to look at all the trilliums. And then after dinner we went out again with Daddy and saw lots of ducklings and explored some Waterloo trails that we hadn't found before.

And Henry is still exploring his hands too.

Family Day 2010

We had a very nice family day weekend with my mum and sister visiting. We went on a few nice walks including RIM Park. And we did a chocolate fondu on Valentine's Day. The fondu was so easy and fun, I want to do it more often.

Wildlife Walk

We've been seeing so much wildlife recently and haven't had our camera out that we thought we should go out on a walk looking for wildlife and bring the camera. And we had a lot of luck.
We saw a little snake eating something.
A huge hawk or eagle. We saw a big one like this last night too and got even closer and were so mad we didn't have a camera. We found this one today in almost the same spot. We saw some more smaller hawks or eagles flying overhead tonight too but didn't get any great pictures.
We saw the first ducklings and goslings of the year!

We saw this big thing that we think was a turkey vulture on top of the big Manulife building. We also saw 2 big vultures flying yesterday.
We also saw but didn't get pictures of a muskrat and a glimpse of a heron. Didn't see any turtles today though.
