Henry's Baby

In my last few weeks of pregnancy I was finishing up this project.  It is the baby doll and doll quilt from Anna Maria Horner's Handmade Beginnings.  It was a pretty fun project.  The doll is super super simple and kind of ends up looking like an alien.  And the quilt was fun.  But the quilt ended up being quite a bit of work and it turned out really well and if I'd known it was going to be that much work and that it was going to turn out well I would have rather made a real quilt I think instead of a doll's quilt, oh well.
We gave it to Henry shortly after Bridget's arrival and he loved it.  I wasn't really expecting him to since he's been on a cars only kick for several months.  And he quickly got bored of it but the first day or two he did love it.  He said it was a "cookie man baby" since it looks like a gingerbread man.  And he likes to pretend to take bites out of it too.

He was really into spreading out the blanket and getting Daddy to help him change the baby's diaper on it.  He wanted to do that again and again and again until Kevin couldn't stand to do it even one more time.

Mariposa Dress

Last week I made myself the mariposa dress from Anna Maria Horner's Handmade Beginnings, I've made several things from this book now. I like how this dress turned out. It's a little on the big size even after I took in the skirt a bit but oh well it will be great for after the next baby. I used some thrift store cotton material in an indian print.

I love wearing dresses in the summer but of course I can't while I am still nursing so having a nursing dress is really great. I think the design is quite clever - here you can see how it works.

More Shoes for Henry

Even though I always end up putting Henry in the same old Robeez shoes, I can't help myself from making him more. And I still didn't have a warm pair that fit well. So I made these.

They are from my new book Handmade Beginnings by Anna Maria Horner. I really like this book and am dying to make the little jacket from it for Henry to wear this spring, just got to make some fabric choices.

I like how they turned out. I love the fabric choices I made and they fit really well. Lined with fleece and coming up over the ankle they should keep his feet just a little warmer than his usual shoes.

Here are some pictures showing the fun he got up to today in his new shoes:
